The Bethany Lions extends a heartfelt thanks our Bethany Lions, local and state leaders, cars, Brownie troop #60130, antique Ford Model T, Flanagan ambulance and the farm tractor unit for coming out to honor the memory of those who gave the ultimate sacrifice – their lives – so that we can live in a free country based on democracy.
It’s not the size or type of the parade nor the grandeur, but more importantly, it is the giving of our time to show respect and remembrance – the true meaning of Memorial Day.
President Anne Dembski laid the wreaths at both Town Hall and Veteran’s Park Memorials along with Bethany Lions and many of who participated in the event to show their respect. What was so touching was having Brownie Troop #60130 participate in the ceremony at Veteran’s Memorial Park and who led us in the Pledge of Allegiance. Their respect, willingness to participate and scout decorum was impressive to watch – Demonstrating the true meaning of Memorial Day and the sharing of the meaning of Memorial Day passed onto another generation.
